About this Recipe

This lasagne is simple to prepare and is a one of our family favorites.

Serves: 6



1 tbsp olive oil

700g mince

2 sprigs rosemary

1 onion, chopped

3 garlic cloves, finely chopped

1 tbsp tomato puree

x2 400g tins chopped tomatoes or passata

handfull of chives (chopped)

handfull of oregano (chopped)

salt & freshly ground black pepper

lasagne pasta sheets


For the white suace:

50g butter

2 tblsp plain flour

1 pint milk

1 tsp grainy mustard

salt & freshly ground black pepper



Pre heat the oven to 180°C (350°F/Gas 4)

Heat the oil in a pan, season, add the rosemary and brown the mince.

Add the onions and cook until soft.

Add the garlic and tomato puree, stir well and cook for another minute or so.

Pour in the tomatoes add the chives and oregano, stir well and bubble for about 20  minutes.

 For the white sauce:

Melt the butter in a pan, sprinkle the flour in and stir well until it becomes a bit like dough.

Pour the milk in very gradually stirring the whole time.

season with salt & pepper and add a teaspoon of grainy mustard.


Layer the mince, lasagne sheets and white sauce in an ovenproof dish, top with grated cheese.

Put it in the oven for 30 – 45 minutes until the top is golden and the bottom is bubbling.

Serve with seasonal British vegetables or fresh salad.
